Adam Schiff says Republicans must justify impeachment hearing witnesses

Rand Paul's call for the whistleblower to be publicly named was "excellent".

Numerous central claims from the whistleblower's complaint have been corroborated by testimony from Trump administration officials and the partial transcript of the July 25 call between Trump and Zelensky, which was released by the White House.

"There is no Whistleblower".

Paul claimed at the rally that the whistleblower's identity is known, adding, "I say to the media, do your job and print his name".

The attorney representing the "whistleblower" who filed a complaint against President Trump with House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, Mark Zaid, is doubling down on comments he made in 2017 about supporting a coup against President Trump.

Jordan said Thursday he doesn't know the identity of the whistleblower but that Schiff should call the person to testify.

"Identifying any name for the whistle-blower will simply place that individual and their family at risk", he told AFP.

The mistake is thinking this White House comes up with plans: "Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and other top Democrats are sending a letter to President Donald Trump on Thursday demanding he develop and brief Congress on a plan to stop the Islamic State from returning in Syria now that most of the American forces have been pulled out of the country". Republicans painted the whistle-blower, who had worked on the White House national security council earlier this year, as a Democratic Party supporter who lacked direct knowledge of the July 25 call.

Trump points out that he didn't run in 2018 and notes that while he urged people to go out and vote, "a lot of people said, 'I'm not going to vote until Trump runs'".

Democrats have accused Mr Trump of abuse of power and illegally leveraging USA military aid for political favours from a foreign country- a quid pro quo that Mr Trump denies.
